Students seeking transfer credit for ENGL 101 and ENGL 302 should first read the university policies regarding the Evaluation of Transfer Credit. If the transfer course has not already been granted equivalency and meets the criteria established by the university, students must then submit two documents in order to proceed with the transfer credit evaluation: a copy of the syllabus for the course they wish to transfer and a completed Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation Appeal form. Please note that course descriptions from a college or university catalogue will not suffice; students must provide a syllabus for the transfer course.
Submit these documents to Dr. Jessica Matthews at the following address:

FAQs
1. Can I transfer my communications course for composition credit?
No. To earn transfer credit, the course must be offered by an English department or a composition program at an accredited college or university.
2. Can I transfer my second semester of composition for ENGL 302?
No. Although many universities offer a two-semester sequence of composition, George Mason does not provide 300-level transfer credit for courses taken at the 100 or 200-level.
3. How long does it take to get my results?
Once both documents (the course syllabus and the Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation Appeal form) have been submitted, the transfer credit evaluation decision takes about a week. Students will be notified of the decision by email.
