Composition Faculty, Anna Habib, Appointed Blog Associate Editor

Anna S. Habib has recently been named Associate Editor of the “Connecting Writing Centers Across Borders,” the blog for WLN: A Journal on Writing Center Scholarship.  The blog is an interactive site open for anyone to post and comment, but is of special interest to writing center administrators around the globe who do not have a writing center community in their immediate vicinity.

Habib is responsible for blog posts from the Middle East and North Africa. She has a personal connection to the region, having been born in Beirut, Lebanon. During the Lebanese civil war, she and her family fled to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus where she grew up. Her transnational experiences make her fluent in English, Arabic, and French, with second language proficiency in Greek.

Habib received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from George Mason. She is currently working on her doctorate in Writing and Rhetoric. Habib served as the Associate Director and Acting Director of the University Writing Center at Mason for five years, until she transitioned to her position as Associate Director of Composition for multilingual writers at Mason’s home campus and its branch campus in South Korea. Habib also coordinates and is an instructor for the Graduate Writing across the Disciplines courses for INTO Mason.
