The Composition Program's all-faculty workshop will be Friday, August 11, 2023 on Zoom. Shawna Shapiro, Associate Professor of Writing and Linguistics at Middlebury College, author of Cultivating Critical Language Awareness in the Writing Classroom, and the founder of the CLA Collective, will present an interactive talk and application workshop. This will be an exciting opportunity for faculty to learn from an expert in critical language work in writing studies, which directly supports the linguistic justice efforts occurring in the program over the past several years.
In addition to Dr. Shapiro's talk and workshop, faculty will have the opportunity to discuss AI text generators and teaching writing and challenges and strategies in supporting student writers. Faculty will also have faculty conversation groups around areas of interest to share ideas with each other and help the administrative team identify areas for further development in this upcoming year.
